Alaska or Hawaii?
So I’m really wanting to go on a trip to celebrate my graduating from treatment. It’s been over a year in residential and outpatient treatment and I’m “graduating” in December. Not to say this trip will be in December. I am struggling here though.
First thought is an Alaskan cruise. A cruise simply because I would have no clue how to actually travel Alaska. I’ve briefed a few and being able to cruise around glaciers is amazing to me and obviously there will be excursions that will help narrow the decision making. Then lodging and food will also be much much easier, also if I end up getting all inclusive but that’s getting a bit specific.
As for Hawaii, this would be more of a flight and travel. I’ve looked up national parks (Volcanoes National Park and Haleakala) but they’re on different islands. I’ve also looked at shark diving and swimming with rays as well as surfing/paddle boarding/kayaking. A lot of the things I want to do in Hawaii are nature centered and sprinkled in with the unique culture. But these things being on different islands has me kind of wondering if island hopping is a thing that usually happens? I’m just really unsure here.
If there’s anyone who’s been on these vacations and has some insight please give me some ideas. Or even some tweaking on these. Time of year is up for debate, budget is also up for debate (fly from the east coast and then the actual trip) and I may end up going with my niece or alone. Really just need location insights!
