Hey all, not sure on dates for these 2 surface gauges.
I got them in a job lot auction with lots of lathe tooling.
Cleaned them both up and ready to be put back to work.
They both looked pretty bad when I got them, happy with how they came out!

I forged this knife from coil spring steel a friend gave me, I'm not sure what steel it is.
Forged and hardened it yesterday and all went fine, can anyone suggest how long and at what temp I should temper it?

Thanks everybody for the information last week.
Got the hammer quenched (I used water) and tempered it.
Sat the hammer on a hot drift and tempered that way, worked great and I'm really happy with it!

Today I reshaped a random 2.5lb hammer I had spare. I don't know what steel it is, any suggestions on heat treat?
Pretty happy with how this came out so far, i think this is a french style cross peen?
