RHCP brightens my day

I’m 19 and I’ve been actively listening to RHCP ever since I was 12, I know just about everything about them and I love them to death. I fell into a really deep depression when I was 15 and if I needed “comfort” I would listen to John Frusciante’s solo stuff and if I needed a mood boost I would put on either Californication or BSSM, and if I ever wake up a bit more down those albums gave me the mood I needed everytime, music heals and RHCP are my healers

One thing I don’t see mentioned as much is the work of the engineers behind the records, I’m making an EP covering the self titled and I noticed the drums in You Can’t Quit Me Baby are panned hard right and it’s been a total headache trying to recreate that effect without the song sounding “hollow” or lacking. The same is done in Song For The Dead, a fast paced song like that would suffer a lot from having the drums panned hard left, but they made it sound really good and I like that it makes Dave’s playing more clear and present
Monsters In The Parasol also has a very interesting riff in the chorus and it doesn’t sound as if it’s less than the rest of the song, which logically would make sense since the verses are played with a really present guitar, taking that guitar away in the chorus would supposedly “tone down” the chorus but it totally doesn’t.
The entirety of Like Clockwork is insane in a producers POV (musically is also really rich)
“You Got A Killer Scene There, Man…” also is a really well produced song
I could go on and on about this but the thing I love about queens is, I’ve been a fan for about 4 years now and they never cease to amaze me, the more I over analyse their songs, the more stunned I get
god bless queens, their old members and the engineers behind making this beautiful sounding band even more beautiful.

I love RHCP with all my heart and this does NOT apply to all songs but I’m tired of pretending some songs are about anything at all xD

I see people here (and even Anthony himself for example in the SA doc) saying X song is about Y, for me he just wrote what he had in mind at that time and it stuck

Of course there’s good lyrics and songs with real meaning like Tearjerker, If, My Lovely Man just to name a few

Meaning or not, RHCP wouldn’t be RHCP without Anthony and I’m dying on that hill.
