Asplenium bulbiferum 26-day timelapse

Just a little manual timelapse experiment I've been working on. I took one photo every day and put them together into a video.

Context: I bought this Asplenium bulbiferum from a local plant shop as a rescue. It was in really bad shape, almost dying, covered in aphids, scale insects, and mealybugs. I figured it would be easier to cut everything back, repot it, and let new healthy growth develop while treating the rhizome. So far it's working, and it looks like it should bounce back pretty quickly.

Can a bird's nest fern be left out in the rain?

I recently got a Asplenium × kenzoi, and I've heard that its care requirements are basically the same as those of a bird's nest fern. One thing I've often heard about bird's nest ferns is that you shouldn't water the center, or "crown," of the plant because it is susceptible to rot.

My kenzoi is currently indoors in quarantine, but I plan to place it with my other ferns once the quarantine period is over. However, it would be exposed to rain there. Will this be a problem?

Bird's nest ferns survive in the wild, so I would assume they can handle rain. Is that correct?

How is the new B2 course with kanji?

I'm currently on the old japanese course, section 4 unit 17, at the point where it received that (now old) update. Suddenly, every unit introduces 6+ kanji, which I actually think is a good thing since sections 2 and 3 felt way too slow when it came to kanji.

However, the kanji lessons are no longer integrated into the path. If I want to learn how to write and get familiar with the new characters, I have to manually go to the kanji tab and grind them there before returning to finish the unit.

For those who already received the update, I have a few questions:

-Is there a dedicated kanji practice lesson in the path for the kanji introduced in each unit?

-Do you still have the Kanji tab, and if so, has it been reorganized?

-I know this one might be difficult to answer right now, but does anyone know roughly how many kanji Duolingo teaches in the old course compared to the new B2 course?

My Pteris vittata 1 year progress

I found this fern growing between the floor tiles in my house, right in the grout line separating one tile from another.

It's a very common species where I live (São Paulo, Brazil), and because of that it's usually treated as a weed and cut down. My curiosity came from wanting to see what a healthy, fully grown adult specimen would actually look like and how big it could get and how it develops over the years.

A few questions and suggestions for the Duolingo employees

First, I'd like to thank the Duolingo team members who have been active on this subreddit recently. It's great to see more direct communication with the community, and I appreciate the effort being made to listen to user feedback and answer questions.

There are a few topics that come up frequently in the community that I'd love to hear more about.

  1. B2 Courses & Catch-Up Lessons

Could you share any updates on the rollout of the updated B2 courses? Catch-Up Lessons are still in A/B testing, but is there any estimated timeline for a full release?

Many learners have been looking forward to these additions, so it would be great to hear if there's any rough ETA you can share. The estimate previously shared for the Android costumes rollout was very helpful, so I was wondering if a similar update could be provided for the B2 rollout.

  1. Learner Feedback & Course Quality

Many users have noticed issues in the newer courses, such as correct answers being marked as incorrect, limited acceptance of alternative answers, audio/pronunciation mistakes, and other bugs that are frequently discussed on this subreddit.

Could you share how learner reports are currently used to improve course quality? How does feedback from the report feature make its way to the teams responsible for course content, and how are issues prioritized for review?

From a learner's perspective, it's sometimes difficult to tell whether reported issues are being tracked and acted upon, so it would be interesting to learn more about that process.

  1. Social Feed & Community Feedback

One topic that frequently comes up in the community is the presence of posts from strangers in the feed. Many users feel that seeing updates from people they don't know makes the social experience feel less personal and less relevant, yet the feature remains in place despite receiving a fair amount of negative feedback.

More broadly, how does the team balance community feedback against internal data when making product decisions? There have been several features over the years, such as the Energy system and the social feed, that have received significant criticism from parts of the community while still being expanded or maintained.

Could you share what benefits or metrics the team sees in features like these, and how feedback is weighed when deciding whether to keep, modify, or remove a feature?

Thanks for your time, and thanks to anyone from the team who can shed some light on these topics!
