Was reassembling the front after getting a new tire put on the it started cross threading when putting the axle in. The axle threads themselves look great, it's just the threads in the fork that are messed up. Would I be safe to get a 20 mm tap and clean up the threads?

Not a plumber but I stumbled on these 4" and 3" valves in someone's bulk trash when out for a walk and figured it was worth a pretty penny. Seems brand new never used (and yes they open and close smoothly). Feels like finding gold!
