I got to do all our chalk signs for Book Haul :D

I got to do all our chalk signs for Book Haul :D
TLDR: If a B&N store closes, when do Booksellers learn/get told and what happens?
Backstory below:
I know i've been a frequent poster in here recently but please bear with me lol.
i work at a pretty busy store in a touristy area. we always fall behind on picks/memberships but that's how it goes- we're never the worst we're just never the best in our cluster.
anyways, we've had a lot of booksellers leaving but no one is gaining more hours and it doesn't seem like we are hiring. this also goes for managers, I.E: our GM saying there are no hours to give to managers.
its a joke that they're trying to close us- the area we're in has been loosing businesses and it's generally well known that even busy places end up shutting down due to pressure from the owners.
I've worked at a place that closed without telling its employees until last day of sales, so I'm very paranoid. I'm just worried if our store does close that we won't be told and I live too far away to transfer to another store.
Has anyone worked at a store that closed? How far advance did you learn this? What happened? Also, would a high-sales but lower memberships/pick store close. We are an older store and very popular/well known in our area.
Any thoughts would ease my stress,
Thanks
EDIT: thanks for all the comments and reassurance. As you can tell, I have bad experiences so I feel a lot better after reading the comments.
Just wanted to share my chalk sign for our 3 for 2 sale last weekend!
idk if it's just my store but i want insight.
we have our OMPs by the registers and on new paperback release tables near our entry. we used to have seperate single title tables for them, which helped them sell imo, but a higher up made us take them out. there is a Lot of table fatigue near the entry way. I understand that we are supposed to hand-sell them more, I get that.
I really want to make endcaps/tables/displays for them. I think it would be so fun and give them more attention. Do other stores do this? How does your store place them? Im only a bookseller so I'm not in charge of these things but I think there's a lot of merchandising chances we are missing out on to promote one of our biggest responsibilities.
Any thoughts or experiences? What pick are you most excited to sell next month? I think our YA will sell really well at my store so I'm excited lol.
Hi, I have tried looking around to find this out, but I swear it says in the show what city the Hobbses live in, and I cannot find it. Anyone remember, or was I hallucinating? Yes, I know where Hobbs' cabin was, but I wanted to know if the Hobbses lived specifically in Grand Rapids or Bemiji or elsewhere. Many thanks!
Hey there! I'm a PT bookseller who recently graduated college. I've always had a bad relationship with my GM. I was hired on through a referral of a well-liked Lead Bookseller who was my friend. I was hired by a hiring manager at another store and from the moment I started my GM just never liked me. They have a reputation of being really hard on the younger (20s) booksellers, myself included. Other than them, my ASMs and Lead Bookseller all love me. I've been working in Customer Service for 8 years and I know I'm good at it.
Compared to my fellow booksellers, I feel like I go above and beyond with customers and always show up with a smile. I'm decent at selling OMPs and getting Memberships, although our store has been struggling with them recently. I think my coworkers all have their strong suits and are all great, but I know for a fact I'm one of the better customer service staff and cashiers. Not to say that I've seen my coworkers ignoring, being rude to, or not listening to customers but... Let's say that's not unusual behavior from them. They do get slaps on the wrist or talks to- but they still get more hours than me. That being said, there are new hires that also get more hours than me. I don't get it. It's not seniority and it's not favoritism... It's just... random?
Anyways, I'm coming up on my 1 year and I'm burning out working 3 jobs. I just want to work FT or close to FT here because I love the job. I don't mind the OMP pressure, I say hi to everyone and pick up the slack for my coworkers. I just don't feel recognized. I met a Cluster support the other day who seemed to really like me and it made me realize that my GM isn't showing me any support or anything. I would try to transfer stores but I don't have a car and they're all too far away for public transport.
I just I'm just ranting but I'm frustrated. I got a full time offer from my other job, so I'm planning on talking about this during my 1 year review. I would love to be a Lead Bookseller, but everyone tells me to try to find a new job and how much B&N sucks now. I know it's been a rough few years and the pressure from corporate sucks but I don't mind the work.
Any advice on how to bring this up or what to say? Anyone have similar experiences?
Thanks,
