JTBC fully paid the delaying appearance fee

On 8 July, JTBC stated in an official statement that it had completed payments for dispatch commissions and service fees that were previously unpaid due to court approval procedures, having received court permission last week.

It further added, "Based on the comprehensive approval recently granted, we have also completed payment today for some variety program appearance fees and external production costs that were unpaid," while expressing apologies to performers and affiliated companies for the unavoidable delays in payment schedules while awaiting the court's decision.

Korean Broadcasting Actors' Labor Union Urges JTBC to Find a Solution for Unpaid Appearance Fees

According to the union, delays in appearance fee payments for JTBC entertainment programs such as "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator" and "Knowing Bros" have also disrupted rebroadcast fee payments under actors' neighboring rights. The union said the amount of damage has reached tens of billions of won because the rebroadcast fees are tied up in the rehabilitation process.

As a result of JTBC's default, appearance fees for some entertainers on JTBC variety shows such as "Knowing Bros," "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator," and "Divorce Re-Boot Camp" were not deposited even after the scheduled payment dates had passed.

JTBC reportedly informed each agency of the delay and asked for understanding.

MC Ahn Jung Hwan recent interview - controversies about SK World Cup result

Long story short:

Ahn Jung Hwan has deeply been criticized for rumored to be the one "manipulating" all the KFA's activities, given that his entertainment company manages numerous former South Korean players... He has faced allegations of attempting to steer his commentary in a direction favorable to the national team's current coaching staff and the KFA.

South Korean fans began criticizing Ahn Jung Hwan for remaining silent in the face of the backlash directed at Hong Myung Bo, despite the 50-year-old former striker's role as a commentator.

His most recent interview served merely as a response to the negative rumors circulating about him.

Prologue of new interview with Kim Poong, Sung Jun and CAMF's PD

Q. How did you build your chemistry? It’s not like just being close works.

Kim Poong: You have to be able to just blurt out whatever comes to mind. Whether it gets aired or not, whether others take offense or not. You have to clash and mix things up for chemistry to develop.

The atmosphere during Season 1 was much more cautious than it is now. None of us had much broadcasting experience, so we were very polite to one another. Of course, I was the only one goofing off regardless (laughs). But it's different now. (…)

Q. The producers said you are a "strategist" and that "you weren't number one on 'Culinary Class Wars' for nothing" (laughs).

Kwon Sung Jun: I could actually talk about 1 Night 2 Days too... I monitor every episode three or four times. I watch the live broadcast, and as soon as it ends, I watch the version uploaded to the two JTBC YouTube channels (JTBC Entertainment and JTBC Voyage), read the comments, and even skim through the community reactions.

Monitoring isn't about checking if you did a good job. You already know that during filming. You need to figure out how what you did on set looks to the production crew and what the viewers find entertaining. Maintain what gets a good reaction, and if it seems like people are getting even the slightest bit bored, discard it without hesitation.

Since I'm on a variety show, I have to be funny. Besides, Chef Yoon Nam No, Chef Park Eun Young, and I are all variety show veterans. We're from 'Culinary Class Wars' (laughs). I want to be good at cooking, but I also want to be funny. No matter the set, I just think about what I need to do to survive.

Q. How was the production of Season 2 decided?

Lee Chang Woo PD (Co-directing PD, the only remained main director from Season 1): I was planning a new program. No matter what I planned, one question kept getting in the way: 'Will this be more entertaining than "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator"?' "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator" had become the standard in my mind. After  several proposals were scrapped like that, I suddenly thought, ' If it's going to be like this, why not just bring back "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator"?'

Q. This project was planned 10 years ago. Weren't you worried like 'Would it still work now?'

Lee Chang Woo PD: You know the saying, "The familiar taste is dangerous." I had the confidence that comes from that.

It is necessary to clearly distinguish between what needs to be changed and what should not. After that, three things are important: ① Precisely target and recreate the expected emotion. ② Plant a kick that will make them want to return. (…)

Q. What do you think is the key to editing on "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator" (CAMF name in SK)?

Kim Ji Soo PD (The "who" in "Who edited this? Give them an award.", the head assistant director): Editing is like fine dining. It involves capturing the overall flow and calculating everything down to the final plating. The cast members are already excellent ingredients. Rather than adding more, I try to handle them well.

I also consider three things important. ① No matter which section is cut, it must form a complete short. If I am editing a 15-minute cooking video, I think of it as creating 15 one-minute shorts. Let's ensure that not a single shot is wasted, and that the entire narrative arc is captured. (…)

Q. You seem like a team with great chemistry. What do you consider important to keep the team running smoothly?

Lee Chang Woo PD: I provide motivation, help achieve good results, and share the opportunities gained from achievement. Instead of saying "work hard," I help them develop a desire to do well. I enforce strict quality control. Rather than lowering the standards, I spend time with them to help them reach the baseline.

I try to ensure that team members can personally experience the opportunities that come with good results. For example, when we win the company's 'Program of the Month' award, my name appears as the winner. Instead of me, I take turns sending the PDs one by one - everyone, right down to the youngest PD.

Q. I'm curious about your feedback style. What do you do when you are not satisfied with a junior's work?

Lee Chang Woo: The important thing in feedback is giving the feeling that you are 'growing'. (…)

Q. Producer Chang-woo is the most senior member of the variety department, while this is Producer Rin Ha's debut project. That's quite a gap between the two (laughs).

Lee Chang Woo: It’s not an easy relationship. We are the most senior and the newest among the main directors, so there is the biggest gap between us. I was a bit worried at first. Is it going to be okay? Will we be helpful to each other? Fortunately, we are blending in well. We clicked faster than expected. Producer Rin Ha must have put in a lot of effort.

Lee Rin Ha PD (Co-directing PD, a successful CAMF fan who dream to become a variety PD and made their debut with this season):  Since it was my first time working with a senior colleague, I observed a lot. I looked into why they approved this but asked to redo that, and why they boldly moved on with this.

Q. If you had to pick the most difficult part of the process, what would it be?

Lee Rin Ha:  I had to find my role. Even as a co-director, there are moments when the intuition and judgment of a senior who has worked much longer take center stage. I realized that if I just sat there with the title of 'co-director,' I might not have a role to play.

I asked my senior about almost everything. I tried to get as much information as possible and offer every opinion I could. In the beginning, that was also a form of appeal, a way of saying, "Please listen carefully to my opinions."

Q. Did you know, Producer Chang-woo, as well?

Lee Chang Woo:  Of course. I already did Season 1, you know. So the chefs, the MCs, and even the production crew naturally look at me. They check my expression and tell me to make the decision.  (…)

Q. Producer Chang-woo, you were the leader of this team 10 years ago, and you are still the leader now. Is there anything that has changed?

Lee Chang-woo:  I learned how to say "I'm sorry."

I was originally the type to push people very hard. "Why did they do it this way? Are they actually planning to air this?" I was completely consumed by grades. We gathered to work, so isn't it enough just to do this well? The feelings of my colleagues were secondary. I worked as if I were the leader and a solo player, and I became increasingly isolated. Even my juniors were afraid of me.

Then one day, the main writer gifted me the book *The 90s Generation Is Coming*. I feel like there's some kind of message in this...
