Awful support experience in addition to faulty TRMNL X
This is a continuation of https://www.reddit.com/r/trmnl/comments/1u9cakw/trmnl_x_quality_control_or_lack_of_thereof/
Just to recap, the issues found so far:
- screen is misaligned (there is a white line on the right side of the screen, and the line itself is a bit thinner on top) - checked by displaying fully black image
- when I shake the device gently, something in the device makes a noise
- there is a scratch of the black plastic right in the middle of bottom frame under display, in very visible place.
- additionally, there is uneven part of the black plastic very visible on the white display, again on the bottom part
- device kept reporting it has 91% of battery, now it reports 93% even though it was left for approx 10 hours for charging
Honestly, I am kinda disappointed with the whole support experience.
- This is not kickstarter, but I totally get that there are delays
- I am happy that my device was not from the first batch
- Shit happens, the device is still faulty in so many ways (enclosure, display alignment, battery, loose part inside - sure, that last thing might've happened in transit)
- Again, shit happens, and it was not caught by QC. I assume there's no QC, just the trmnl warehouse employees assembling the devices and packaging them, i.e. there's nobody else checking final product.
- I am fine, things might've been overlooked (but 4 issues in one device is a bit too much by my standards). Everybody makes mistakes. The reaction to these mistakes is what matters.
- I am assured that Niklas will personally sort this out. I haven't heard anything from Niklas, just a message from David.
- ...and then radio silence
- I understand it takes time, and there are priorities for hardware side of things. But what about loose item in the trmnl that makes noise while shaking trmnl? What about just keeping me informed about the progress and giving some ETA? How long would it take? Week? Month?
- All in all, it's like with the kickstarter: all about communication. And there's literally none unless I post here and tag u/ryanckulp.
As always, I am trying to give a benefit of doubt, but it's a nightmare so far.
As always, I am contacting through the official support channels first.
Just don't tell me about time zone difference please, chat indicates that the person assigned has been active throughout the day.
