Could someone give my mock English Literature essay a second opinion?
Hi everyone,
Today I got my mock Eng. literature essay back, and I was honestly quite disappointed with the mark? I work with a private tutor and we'd already studied this extract in depth, also I wrote with her multiple paragraphs, and i genuinely expected to do better.
After class, I asked my teacher if she could look over my essay again, because I didn't understand why I'd received that mark. While talking to her, she asked me something along the lines of, "Do you think I'm not professional enough to mark it" I said no- I just don't agree with a mark? She then told me that what I was saying was 'inappropriate' and that she wouldn't look at my paper again.
The thing is - I'm not British, so I'm wondering if this might have been a cultural misunderstanding? I wasn't trying to question her professionalism or offend her in any way, because i feel like she took it quite personal, maybe my fault but i promise, I didn't mean it, i genuinely just wanted to discuss my essay because I care about English literature. I'm not that student who's usually missing the class or late for classes.
Would anyone who is familiar with the mark scheme be willing to read my essay and tell me what mark they think it deserves? I'm not looking for people to automatically agree with me , I'd just really appreciate an honest opinion based on the mark scheme and overall opinion on this situation?
I’ve included the mark scheme, my essay, and the extract in this post. If anyone is willing to mark it or give feedback, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks
