First time ordering Kroger delivery as an employee.... It sucks

UPDATE: The order was finally delivered 8 hours later. It was delivered in a kroger delivery truck. Unfortunately, literally half of my items were missing (even though the appeared on my final receipt). Really poor experience :(

I work in customer service (used to be a cashier). I have never ordered delivery before simply because I don't wanna pay the delivery fee. However, there was a free delivery coupon and I am out of town at a friend's house with no car, so I decided to do delivery! I ordered groceries to be delivered between 9:00-10:00am through Kroger delivery (not Instacart). 3pm and still no delivery. Not even any updates. I call customer service, nothing. Chatbot online, nothing. Can't even get a human to answer. It sucks because I am sure that they are just overworked (it's the day before July 4th!!), and I totally understand what it's like to work during holidays, but it sucks that they won't even give the option to just notify customers that the order is delayed. We've canceled plans twice today because we're afraid the groceries are going to get delivered while we're not home and the $80+ order will go to waste.

Again I am not blaming any of the employees (as an employee I totally get it), but the company should 100% do better about making sure customers can get notified if the order is going to be hours and hours late. This is the kind of stuff we have to deal with at the customer service desk, and it could be avoided if the company actually cared about customers and just gave people an update so they wouldn't have to call and blow up our phones. I've heard so many people complain about our delivery but I always just chalked it up to whiny customers, but now I kinda get it :(

I still have no idea when or if my order will be delivered. And honestly I'm not mad it's delayed; that's not an issue. Just frustrated that I can't leave the house without worrying about wasting a bunch of food. At this point I would even be fine with canceling the order because I know people are just busy, but I cant do that either! Sucks!
