Crazy Cart XL Angled Steering V2

OK. So… i think its safe to officially declare this cart as the test mule because unfortunately, my welding skills are comparable to a kindergartners.

BUT, I wanted to design a second version that was fixed to the frame itself…but with no welds.

I tapped 2 1” screws into each side of the horizontal part of the frame and then welded a base plate laying on top of the frame to add more rigidity.

The goal is to make it more structurally sound while avoiding any fabrication/as minimal modification to the cart itself (next design will use the factory threaded holes from the assembly housing.

Ive had some other ideas swimming around about attempting to add adjustment setting to angle the wheel up or down/closer or further from the driver. That would be an awesome feature. But given the minimal space to work with and the sensitivity to any adjustments or additional weight, it may have to be reengineered a few times for it to work.

I hope yall are enjoying seeing this thing as much as im enjoying making it. Its such a simple adjustment that shouldve been done from factory that completely changes the experience of riding. Truly does feel like as close to a drift car as it can be.

If you have any suggestions or ideas for me to try, please feel free to lmk.

Angled steering on Crazy Cart XL DONE!

Test #1 is done! Please don’t roast me on the welds haha. Ik they’re hideous but they got the job done.

This isnt the final project. I needed to make sure everything worked before i made it pretty. Plus, I plan on upgrading the motor and the fork soon so I didn’t mind messing this one up.

The cart rides the exact same way but I definitely felt much more control. Only thing I would change on this particular setup is using much thicker material to hold up the assembly. The U joint works perfectly but it rotates in all directions. Using thicker material would prevent it from wanting to move side to side.

Other than that, its great! The second I really got into it, i thought to myself “this is how it should’ve came. Everyone needs this”.

In the last photo, i attached a mock up that i sketched out and had Ai recreate of the steering assembly i plan on getting made.(p.s.- the Ai pic isn’t spot on but just so u have a reference lol). Im still working out the measurements to make sure its more plug and play but once that’s done, i’ll upload what i came up with!
