Longest LDP push/pumping ride!

I have been working on building up miles and decided to try a new and flatter path to focus on pumping more.

Took my bamboo heavy supersonic out this morning and feel like I’m actually getting into the groove with pumping. Feel fairly dialed in and can feel as I need to change the pump method as my speed goes up or down.

All in all it was an amazing ride! Did 31.5 miles in 3.5 hours on the board, about 4.5 hours including breaks and pictures.

I included an image of where I should have stopped because this crazy hill at the turn around was super steep in both directions and had limited visibility. So i didn’t ride down it for concerns of a busy path (and going way to fast on a new path).

Also, I found that my 85mm speed vents were too small for the expansion joint on a foot bridge. Luckily i was going pretty slow to take a picture of the area or it would have been far worse!

Since it will come up:
I’m ~240 lbs (~109kg)
Bamboo heavy supersonic, 130 mm bear gen 6 trucks and riptide Krank bushings, 85mm 78a Black Ops speed vents.

Front:
50 deg baseplate with 5 degree dewedge (60 deg total)
BS 90a plugged canon with flat washer
RS 87a canon with flat washer

Rear:
40 deg baseplate
BS/RS 96a/93 canon with cupped washers
Pats riser plug

I know I can dewedge the tail more but set this up to be able to comfortably pump in the 8-12mph range and still feel fun.

Next step, mess with risers and get my karmas on there!

Finally Friday ride

Was out with the sunrise again for a ride before work. I’m really glad I got out but the weather was rough this morning.

It was 75F and >90% humidity at 5:30 this morning!

I cut out some extra legs I do to get a few more miles in and was toast when I got back to the car.

New tape makes it feel faster

The factory tape was falling off of my supersonic, which I believe is the bamboo version of the heavy flex, and it was time for an upgrade.

Sadly I don’t have access to the laser cutter but had leftovers from the custom tape I cut for my daughters a couple months ago.

So upgraded with the dual glitter! It turned out great, the engineer in me sees nothing but flaws, but I love it anyway. And it worked great for my morning ride!

Mongo and foot brake practice

Kids and neighbors wanted to go play at the park. Perfect evening for mongo and foot braking practice.

The wet ground from the rain is making it easier.

Not a bad evening

Lunch ride

Love working from home when I can. Took advantage of the nice weather and went for a ride at lunch. It was only a couple of miles (4.5) around the neighborhood. But some nice fresh air and cruising.

Sat at the buddy bench and no one decided to join me! ;)

Since folks will ask:

Front - 90a cannon board side 90a cannon plug road side
Rear - 96a cannon board side, 93 cannon plug road side

Another sunrise ride

Getting out before the heat and work again.

Decided to take a break from pumping and completely switch it up with the pranayama. Did some light pumping to keep up speed in a few spots though…

Not a bad way to start the day with the added bonus of working from home with and getting to hang with the kiddos when I have down time

Early morning pump

Got out with the sunrise to beat the heat but it was super humid.

Still trying to dial in bushing and pump but having fun doing it.

Upgrades

i have been starting to finally get into longer rides I see the draw to pumping. Decided to upgrade the travel board to give me the ability to take it anywhere and pump or push.

Starting set up - lepsk8 40mm drop brackets and 155mm bear gen 6 with 50 and 40 degree bases.

Upgrade:
Front - GBomb DDS with 45 deg 130 mm spherical don’t trip poppy set to ~53 degrees
Rear - GBomb DDR with 30 deg 130 mm bear gen 6 set to 20 deg and 95/95 krank cannons

Minor complaint that is only applicable during the bushing tuning phase. The curve on the DDS blocks the poppy kingpin from fully skidding out to uninstall/install the hanger. So it takes a little more time

Have a lot of bushing tuning to do but the 90/87 riptide APS cannons felt heavy and sluggish but was still slightly pump able.

So any suggestions for bushing set ups would be helpful!

Sunrise, speed vents, and snapping turtles

Woke up and couldn’t fall back to sleep so headed out to ride during the sun rise.

Did the rail trail run twice, with a little extra, to hit 20 miles. My longest ride!

Took the quest with black ops speed vents out and had a wonderful ride, minus the pollen everywhere!

Made a friend near the end!

Keep on pushing

Sunday ride

Got out for a ride on the Jordan River Trail yesterday. The friend I’m visiting had a pintail buried deep in the garage so they joined me.

Was a beautiful trail with an amazing view of the mountains! I’ll try and take some more pics over the next couple days

Family ride

Still trying to figure out pumping but had a nice family ride this afternoon followed by ice cream

Going supersonic or learning to pump

Finally took the Supersonic for a ride to learn pumping. I will need to be tweaking things a bit but it is both starting to click how it works and I see why it’s nice.

I have a long way to go but it is also making me more comfortable at speed.

Onward to victory!

I have been designing some fenders for my bracket/travel board and took my bandito for a ride after heavy rain last week.

Today I went to clean all the crap out of it, and swap out for an updated rain guard design and I had to cut one of my infinity bolts off.

I know that’s kind of inserts can break loose but I was surprised it happened so quickly. I have only taken the board apart 4-5 times. Anyone else have this issue? Does it happen often

Edit: this made perfect sense in my head but was not clear. Sorry. More info below (and should have included a video).

The threaded fastener is an insert into the sheet metal (PEM is a common brand of them). For whatever reason when I was backing that nut off, it broke free.

The nut was not cross threaded and there was no way to hold it in place. So cutting a flat into it initially to try and get the nut off normal lead to cutting the entire top off to get it out.

Moo sha morning ride to kick off my week off. Finally took the rail trail all the way from Sudbury into Concord center. Next time gotta plan for lunch.

Longest ride out on the quest with Hoku’s. Pretty happy with the set up!

Still building my miles but considering in September I was happy getting 3 miles round trip, I am really happy with the progress
