In your opinion, what decides whether medicine is truly the right path for you?

Hi i hope i have posted on the right subreddit. As an a level student i am thinking of applying medicine and continue this path as a career. Yet after doing research online I am still quite unsure whether medicine is for me. So i want to ask what made you choose medicine?

I have heard that if you dont mind not having a work life balance, long hour shift and you are a good communicator, listener, learner etc. then medicine is fine?

What i am struggling personally is if medicine is actually for me. I am still very young and there are multiple choices available for me. I have devoted myself to prepare for medicine during a level already, my grades are top and i have been volunteering and have done two work experience. I thought of doing biomedical engineering or biochemistry before but I thought these fields include more repetitive work which I do not want so i focused on preparing for medicine during a level... but is this right? Personally i have other interests like 3D animation and art but i used to just label them as hobbies instead of a career i want to pursue? I don't really know if medicine is for me because i don't want to commit my 20s or maybe even 30s to something that i will regret...

To be honest i understand that medicine is rewarding which is why i chose to focus on it but at the same time i am just worried about the future like the job markets, wages etc. but i guess it happens to all jobs? Another reason why i put medicine as my top option is because i thought it is stable? But is it actually. Anyway there might not be a 'correct' answer to whether medicine is good for someone but I just hope that i can gather some advices from you guys so that at least I don't regret that much and feel more confident to do medicine.

If anyone could kindly give me any advices i would be very grateful. 🙏
