Buyer Interview - Did I Screw Up a Question

hello,

i’ve been beating myself up over this question I answered to in an interview I had recently. Currently a buyer in F&B but want to move industries.

Company I interviewed for is smaller, a contract manufacturer for both semiconductor and medical device equipment.

The interviewer asked “how would you respond if ,last minute, a vendor stated that they were not able to complete an important delivery due to shortages or out-of-stocks that had implications for a big customer project”

My answer was that I’d evaluate where we stood with this vendor, and at no point was being unprofessional ever worth it, but that I’d try and find another solution to try and get the parts or materials.

the interviewer corrected me and said that what he was looking for was asking the vendor “what can they come up with, if anything?”

i have been beating myself up about how wrong my answer was and was curious, besides the interviewers response, if there was a better way to answer the question?

Follow - Up Or Ghosting

hello,

curious from people who have more perspective and experience:

I am beginning to look for a new employer, but am currently employed for a myriad of reasons that isn’t worth going into (nothing too bad).

I redid my LinkedIn, and a recruiter reached out to me to set me up with their internal Senior Recruiter for the specific department that the role they’re looking to hire for is in. This is from a well-known, large corporation.

for context, the role is a bit unique and has a lot of cross-functional responsibilities that don’t normally coincide.

I sent them my resume, and had a Teams interview/screening with their Senior Recruiter two weeks ago. It went well, and went by fairly quickly, and they said they wanted to bring me in for an in-person interview with HR, the hiring manager, and their superior.

they told me to expect an invite within 24 to 48 hours (this happened on a Friday, they said at the latest EoD Monday that they’d have an invite sent over).

more than 48 hours go by, and I end up sending a follow-up email, thanking the recruiter and asking if they’d still like to bring me in for an interview. They immediately email me back saying that they’re finalizing the interview schedule with the hiring team and that he’ll email me with an update when he has one.

that was 10 days ago. i feel like i’m going to get ghosted and should just move on. i saw the listing on LinkedIn, and applied fully just in case.

should I send one more follow-up for an update? or just move on?
