1257 W Lunt is roach infested

Just moved in and I’m PISSED. I wanna rip my hair out. I’ve only been here for a few days and I’ve seen 6 of them already. The last tenant never reported any sightings of roaches (allegedly) but I don’t fucking believe that when there are literally roaches in the lobby, the hallways, AND MY APARTMENT.

Fuck Winnemac Properties. How predatory of you to know that you’re treating your building for roaches and yet, I’m paying over a thousand dollars for a unit? BTW, they only spray the fucking hallways and other common areas. Apartments have to manually opt in for their apartments to be sprayed. That’s literally all I needed to hear. You’re just keeping the problem at bay and out of sight. If no one’s apartments are being treated, this is going to be a full scale 4-floor infestation in a few months (if it isn’t already)

The apartments are nice. The roaches are an amenity though. Ask the tenants. They all had the same thousand yard stare when I asked them. But I’m being treated like I’m the only one in the fucking building that’s seeing them in my apartment.

WINNEMAC PROPERTIES ARE LYING SNAKES

I’ve been fighting with roach infestations at my old place and when I finally nabbed a beautiful updated unit in Rogers Park, I was beyond excited to finally be free (There was no risk of taking anything with me because I was simply NOT going to bring anything. Not even my clothes until I’ve washed them thrice. It’s excessive, I know. But roaches are traumatizing. I had one crawl on my face once while in bed)

I asked that piece of shit tour guide if they’d ever had issues with roaches or mice and obviously he lied. Why would I expect a realty company to be truthful when all they care about is securing my hard earned fucking money? Silly me. I picked up my keys this week. Didn’t have time to move in because of my 9-5 but I requested off yesterday and today to deep clean and set up the basics (groceries, build my new bed, etc.)

Unlocked the door to my unit to find a fucking live roach on the other side of it greeting me hello. Along with a cemetery of its passed loved ones on the carpet right by my door. I was crying and feeling like I had to throw up… I could’ve stayed where I was for less rather than give these bitches over a thousand dollars of my money for the same fucking circumstances.

DONT move to 1257 W Lunt no matter how nice the apartments look. They’ll lie right to your face and then ghost you after they get you in the door. The fucking audacity to put in the lease “Tenants are responsible for pest control.” Yeah, suck my dick. The roaches moved in long before me. That’s your responsibility as a property management company.

What do I even do at this point…
