Contaminated tray

We had an incident occur today and I want to get other techs opinions on it. While setting up for a revision (where the pt already had an active infection mind you), I had a tray opened to me and when my assist felt the casket he found a piece of fuzz, like something off a sweater. I obviously didn’t want the tray any more and tried to pass it off to my nurse who tried to tell me that it was okay because she had something similar happen last week and her tech that day said it was fine, and it should be fine since it went through the sterilizer. I told her no it’s not fine and I want the tray reprocessed. I had my assist take the casket out to the charge nurse and director and both of them said the tray is contaminated and should be reprocessed. For extra context it was a tray that the rep wasn’t even 100% sure we would need and just wanted to have open right away in case we did need it, and even if we did need it, we wouldn’t need it until near the end of the case.

What are your opinions? Would you have accepted the tray or would you have passed it off like I did?

Curbing separation anxiety in puppy

I recently got a 9 week old vizsla puppy and she has crazy bad separation anxiety. My friend didn’t want her barking on the way home (5.5 hour long car ride) so we held her in our laps the whole time. I tried easing her into being in her crate the first day, but no matter what she was too scared to go inside. I made it cozy, I put a shirt and blanket that smelled like me, some chew toys, and I tried luring her in with treats. I tried feeding her near the crate. No matter what she was terrified to go inside and barked the whole time she was in there. I tried rewarding her for not barking, but as soon as she got a treat she would go back to barking. It’s the same deal with her playpen. She’s perfectly fine in it when I’m sitting with her, but as soon as I stand up shes barking her head off. I tried again to reward her for being quiet but it doesn’t last and I don’t want to feed her 20 treats just trying to get her to calm down. I also tried gradually increasing the amount of time I spend outside her play pen but it’s hard when she barks any time I move an inch. I’ve tried giving her a frozen peanut butter kong before I leave so she has something to do. I’ve tried giving her her favorite toys as a reward for not barking.

Plus every time she goes in her crate or pen I make sure she went potty beforehand so thats not the issue. I also make sure she gets plenty of running in outside before she goes in either the pen or the crate, it is while she’s on a leash because I live in an apartment and can’t have her off leash and she’s too young for dog parks.

Is there a better way to be doing this? I hate to hear her barking but I also don’t want to reinforce it by giving in every time she barks. Any advice would be helpful I feel like I’ve tried everything at this point.
