The rhino's name is Roberto (Berto, if you're cool). He is this baby's first stuffie. Senior pibbles deserve stuffies. If you zoom in, teef.

Ouch

I've always had problems biting my cheeks and tongue. My mouth wants to be a very active participant in my chewing.

I just bit my tongue with my dentures for the first time.

That's a special kind of pain. 😩

Education experience

Tell me about your experience with your dentist or denture makers teaching you about what to expect, how to take care, and how to get assistance.

My oral surgeon was very informative, letting me know way ahead of time what to expect.

My denture fitters are so close lipped. They have never offered any significant information. They say your mouth is gonna change so we're gonna do 3 sets of soft liners. And then they sent me on my way. I always have to think of the questions I have ahead of time, and you know I always forget something.

I'm getting most of my useful information here, so thanks for this subreddit!

Getting adhesive off of plates

I'm a full denture wearer and the getting the goo off of my plates at night is so... Annoying and sticky. I soak them in warm water, but the best results with that take a long time. I use a soft bristle brush and my clean, close trimmed finger tip and that's a waste of water.

Are there water additives/rinses available? Something that this newbie doesn't know about? It's not the end of the world, but it's a hassle.

I'm less than a month into my dentures. I'm getting the hang of them and the pesky grip goo.

My question: is there a product like a mouth guard that I could wear at night that would help with jaw tension and pain?

I wake up sore from my jaw closing more than it did when my teeth were still intact. For example, if my jaw was open 35° with my natural teeth, and when I sleep my jaw closes to 25°, I get really tense and sore. I'd like to find something to wear while sleeping that soul puts get my jaw back to the 35°(or as close as possible).

Thanks!
