Trail Running shoes for early season?
I recently started doing some trail running to get in better hiking shape before deer season kicks back up, and I ended up picking up a pair of Salomon Speedcross 6s.
After wearing them a bit, I’m pretty sure they’re going to become my early-season hunting shoes.
I mainly hunt Midwest public land, where most areas have cut trails and the terrain usually isn’t super technical. For that kind of hunting, big boots can feel like overkill when it’s still 70+ degrees out. The Speedcross 6s are waterproof, the waterproofing has been surprisingly good so far, and the traction is excellent. They honestly feel like a lightweight hiking boot in trail-running-shoe form.
I’ll still switch back to my regular hunting boots once it gets colder or muddier, but for scouting and early-season bow hunting, these seem like a really good fit.
Anyone else using trail runners for early-season bow hunting? Also if anyone has better recommendations for trail running/hiking/early season deer hunting shoes let me know.
