Happy Independence Day (with a 1977 Browning Hi Power for good measure)

1941 Springfield - 400k Serial

Originally the wood was stain black with what I can only assume was motor oil. After steaming out the old oil and some finishing with unrefined Flaxseed oil, the stock revealed this beautiful color and pattern.

1977 Browning Hi Power

Bought new by my great uncle in 1979 after being told by his uncle that he “needed protection from crazies“ out on camping and fishing trips. I got it the hard way, but while he was downsizing before he passed. It was rarely shot and is quite special to me, I love Hi Powers and shoot it very well.
