Normal corrosion?

Hello!

I've just done a tear down of my Gaggia Classic 2012 machine, intending to give the solenoid a once over. But I am shocked at the amount of black and beige flakes and dark patch inside the boiler. Is this just normal aluminium boiler corrosion and just needs a good clean or is something else going on here?

I live in a soft water area (Scotland) but I got the machine from family who may have been using it in an area of harder water.

Thank you!

Solenoid clean required?

Hey y'all. I was giving my Gaggia Classic a descale (North of Scotland so maybe not necessary) and clean of the shower screen. Noticed during the process that water was only coming out of 3 of 4 holes of the dispersion plate so gave that a cafiza clean to.

However now the flow has reduced drastically and with the dispersion plate removed was dribbling through the single hole (see vid). It initially had a good solid flow. Coming through the steam wand fine so is this a classic case of a clogged solenoid? Or has it maybe overheated and needs to cool down? I was struggling a bit with well pulled shots so maybe I've somehow clogged the solenoid further in the process 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Thanks!
