Tuning 9" ashiko with 12 verticals.

Edit: the head is 11" across, body is 24" tall.

I bought this from a guy who bought it at the oregon fair in 1993. I would be suprised if its been tuned in the last decade. I can push the skin down easily, and it sounds kind of 'flabby'.

I looked up tutorials, and the diamond pattern tuning looks easy enough.

But my drum has a lot more space between the verticals than drums I see online, and I'm worried that if I do another round of diamonds, each vertical will have to stretch further than it should.

When I get the first knot even close, it creaks (i think the sound is from the rope itself). I was only pulling with my hands, so I haven't pulled that hard.

I'm open to restringing it entirely, I used to weave so working with tension is nothing new, but I'd prefer to avoid it.

Are there any mid-level online programs? I'm tired of the Judaism 101 in literally everything

I love my little zoom classes, but I'm tired of hearing simple things explained over and over. It feels like 80% of class time is spent explaining the shema or other 101 concept, and it's frustrating.

There's gotta be something between 'did you know the shema isn't just one sentence :DD' and 'Ra'avad asserts that mi-de'oraita one may not intentionally nullify an issur'

Does anyone have any suggestions?

(Mostly looking for meditation and spirituality rn, but open to almost anything.)

I think its silk, but it feels rough, any tips on working with it?

I bought a goodwill bedsheet to make a quilted caplet. When I got home and unfolded it, it smelled like silk, so I did the burn test. It burned kind of reluctantly, and smelled like burnt hair with a little bit of black ash that became very fine when i pinched it between my fingers. (I dont think its a commercially made bedsheet bc the selvege is still on it, so it could be any kind of blend.)

But, it feels like canvas, almost in a linen kind of way. There are some small splotches and spots where it looks moth-eaten. So it likely wasnt well cared for.

Any tips for washing/caring/sewing with this? Its a red/brown iridescent, perfect color for the moth cape I want to make, so I'm worried about damaging it further. I'm not looking to get it back into feeling silky (not yet at least, im a beginner and dont want to deal with slick fabric.)
