The start is overwhelming. What helps you get past the first 24hrs of a long fast?

I been wanting to do a long fast for a while. Right now I’m trying to go for 10 days. My longest fast currently is 5 days and that was 3yrs ago now? Also I didn’t consider electrolytes that time… so I know I could go further. I’m doing this to jump start weight loss again and clear my mind of this awful year.

Fasting in itself is not an issue for me? Occasionally I’d unintentionally go 15-18hrs when life gets busy. Sometimes I’d do 24/48hr fast to reset. And it’s not a challenge really. However starting a long fast for some reason changes everything. It’s like my brain stops me and I don’t even reach 24hrs. And worst part is I know if I go past 24hrs, I will get it done as I know how hard it is to get through the first day.

So yeah 24hrs stand alone - easy. First 24hrs of a long fast - the hardest thing on Earth!

Does anyone else relate to this? Or have any advice on how to get over it? Or honestly any advice to keep headstrong in the first few days of fasting.

I start tomorrow and it’d be great to hear from others :)
