Any experience with vehicle impounded?
I am new in Qatar. Just bought a used motorcycle that I like a month ago. Didn’t ride it at all. Until few days back, I’ve decided to take it to a detailing shop for a deep clean and polish. Planning to keep the bike for the whole summer after that.
Just as I’ve arrived home, got a message from Metrash to refer to investigation section for my registered vehicle number.
Early next morning, I went to visit the nearest Traffic Police office and was told that my bike needs to be impounded for 3 Months due to loud sound. Estimate to pay a fine of 1500QAR + 1800QAR (impound fees 20QAR/day).
I am aware that my bike has a slip on exhaust but didn’t know that it is illegal here. I know that I ride as safe as possible and always below the speed limit and didn’t revs my bike at all.
My main concern now is to leave the bike under the sun during this summer for 3 months straight. As someone who really appreciates motorcycles and cars, this is stressing me out. What more I have just polished and coated the bike for a long term storage.
Have anyone has any experience on how the vehicle impound process works here? Do you have any damages to your vehicle after the impound?
And I’ve found out on the internet that there is a ‘Smart Impound’ device that you can opt to where a GPS device will be attached to your vehicle instead. Anyone have any information on this?
