Top hats and balloons?

I had top hats that release balloons in a random golden cup level the other day. Then yesterday I got the same thing on my second account on my phone at around level 14080. I have never seen those before, and normally any new feature comes with a little introduction/explanation, but there was nothing, they just appeared. I guess they are replacing something else, but I can't think what. There have been so many changes in the way things look lately, I can't keep up anymore. Does anyone know what the top hats are replacing?

Speaking of changes, I absolutely hate the new way the snails look. They were already annoying before, now they are both annoying and forking ugly.

Is anybody here a team leader? I need some tips

I became team leader accidentally several months ago when Playrix did the big cleanup of inactive accounts and our team was reduced from 30 to 10 players. The team had stayed like that until one other person joined a couple of weeks ago. Then yesterday people suddenly started joining (and in some cases leaving again) rapidly - every time I open the game there's at least one new player. We went from 11 to 35 players in a day.

I was happy with our little team of 10 and am at a bit of a loss now (although I should have known this was bound to happen eventually).

I have no wish to micro-manage a team or to put minimum requirements in terms of lives given or points contributed and throw people out if they don't meet them - it's a game, not a job (both for me and the other players).

That said, I do somehow need to keep track of the team's activity to remove inactive players after a while. Not after a week or two or even a month - life happens and people may be inactive for a bit for any number of reasons and then come back after a while. But eventually totally inactive players will have to go.

So here's my question for any team leaders here: how do you monitor people's activity in the least complicated way possible? If the team eventually reaches 50, that's a lot of people to keep track of (whyever did Playrix think 50 was a good idea - 30 was just fine).

Thanks for any tips you can give me
