6dpo FDL

Starting weight: 370 lbs
Current weight: 160 lbs
Total lost: ~210 lbs
Height: 5ft 7in

I am 6 days post op from a FDL Panniculectomy and had my first follow up today! Everything is healing well, except the belly button… I may end up losing it… hopefully not!! But it is what it is. Sorry I didn’t get a picture of it, next time I can I will!

The nurse originally had me standing and I almost passed out when she was trying to get the rest of the dressing off.

Had one drain (right) removed and that was something else … 0/10 stars do not recommend 😂

Honestly I am so blown away by the kindness of strangers on the internet… my chosen family showing up for me has been incredible. 🖤🖤

It was my turn yesterday!

I had a FDL Panniculectomy yesterday and today is my 37th birthday 😂 hell of a way to celebrate, huh?

Holy crap my condolences to my own mons! She is soooo swollen!! Are there any tips or suggestions for that swelling? Holy crap it hurts! Well more stings than anything.

No after pictures yet, but I’ll post them when I have my first post op appointment next Friday morning.

First two pics are before surgery.
3rd is blowing my mind, I have no apron belly!
4th picture I’m getting ready to go home.

My surgeon removed 7.5 lbs of skin/fat from my belly. I can’t believe I did it!

Recovery and going back to work

Let me first start by saying thank you to everyone here, your advice, stories, and encouragement for each other has been refreshing, the internet can be a cruel place.

Okay, so there's my situation and I need to know if I'm being delusional or not. I work from home full time, working 10 hour shifts for a travel company, not super stressful work or anything. I do qualify for a leave at work, for recovery but my doc's office doesn't fill out the necessary paperwork until I've actually had the procedure. Unfortunately this does not work for the leave coordinator (UGH) so I have only one other option.... using all of my PTO, which I am fine with.

I've now lost 210 lbs and I am having a FDL panniculectomy on August 13th. I have access to PTO and I'll have 50 hours banked by the time I have surgery, and I can possibly "borrow" some hours that I will earn through the end of the year. So I currently have scheduled some PTO covering until August 23rd meaning I would be going back to work on Sunday, August 23rd.

Am I crazy to think this is doable?

I have a pretty decent pain tolerance, and I've had some pretty painful surgeries in the past (back a few times, both knees, hysterectomy last year). I do have help, my husband is totally supportive of this surgery and knows the recovery can be intense. I've seen so many posts about people having little pain and feeling great shortly after surgery, using Tylenol to manage any discomfort, so I am wondering if I really need to go through the hoops of a leave or not....

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
