DATS24 is dropping electricity
Dear prosumers !
I'm a DATS24 customer and I have solar panels. With DATS24 stopping electricity supply and shifting all its customers to another supplier, I’m a bit annoyed with the closure invoice they are planning to send on August 31st.
Here's what's bugging me: this switch lands right in the middle of my annual cycle and from what I've read on ORES's site, if you switch supplier outside your normal reading period, you lose the compensation on whatever energy you've fed back into the grid between your last annual reading and the switch date. So basically all the surplus I've produced since January would just be wiped out, even though I'd normally have the rest of the year to "use it up" against my consumption.
I called their customer service to explain, and the guy just said: "don't worry, we'll refund your overpaid advances, you can use that money to pay your next supplier." Which completely misses the point — refunding money I already paid for consumption isn't the same as losing energy I already produced that was never « compensated »to me. He clearly didn't get the distinction.
Has anyone been through this? Does a supplier going out of business and forcing you to switch count the same as a voluntary switch when it comes to compensation?
Thanks for your input !
