Going to be transiting CDG coming home from Malta. It happened to be over Bastille day, so we decided to spend 14/15th in the city for the celebration.
Because the tower is closed on the 14th, the 15th was our only option.
Was ready to go at 5:55pm EDT, through the calendar and on the date of visit page.
At soon at 6pm hits, you can flip the data from the 12th to the 13th (14th closed) and the new date of the 15th shows up. You can immediately select the number of tickets and move on.
Selected the summit and the top floor by lift. And then, as per usual, the website crashes.
Took 75 minutes before the site start working again enough to get back through the calendar . Once back through, I was able to secure 10am tickets and checkout.
Frustrated it took to long, but happy!
I got the "Your payment for the order" email and I can see the pending charge on my credit card. I didn't think much more about it.
30 minutes later, I get:
>You have just made a purchase and we thank you. Unfortunately, there was a problem during your purchase and it could not be successfully completed. There will be no transaction. We suggest you try again on our online ticket office.
I tried the "my tickets" button on the website with my email and nothing.
Obviously everything is sold out at this point. I was pretty annoyed.
I had read that additional tickets are released at 4:45am Paris time (10:45pm EDT).. so I was on and ready to go at 10:40 using the same procedure. Right at 10:45, almost all of the timeslots were available again aside from 9 and 9:30am and maybe a few others later in the day.
I was able to secure 10am again and checkout. I used a different card this time and immediately used My Tickets which said my tickets were on the way and I got them in my email about 2 minutes later.
Based on this experience, the 4:45am Paris time drop had almost all of the availability and zero websites issues that seem to happen every day at 6pm during the summer rush.
Flying into GVA from Montreal. We do not plan to stay in Switzerland.
We're going to be touring from GVA, down through the Alps, to Nice.
The FAQ on rental cars says you need a valid air ticket + / - 1 day.. Saying -1, I assume this can be a flight already flown / the flight you arrived on?
Does it have to be a ticket from a french airport or would the ticket / boarding pass from my flight in to GVA work for the purpose of retrieving the car?
How do I get to the French sector when I arrive on an international flight and rent a car in the French sector?
Follow the same route as the other passengers, collect your luggage, and once you are in the Arrivals hall, after going through customs, go up one floor to the Check-in level.
Follow the “destination France” signs to reach the French sector (to the right of the terminal, near the Air France ticket counters).
Following security measures imposed by the Swiss and French authorities, Genève Aéroport informs you that ONLY passengers in possession of an air ticket valid for day D +/-1 are authorised to pass between the international sector and the France sector, and vice versa.
