Does this 2-week Finland itinerary make sense?

Hi everyone!

My partner and I are visiting Finland this summer and we'd love to get some feedback on our itinerary.

31 July: Arrive in Helsinki (evening)

1–3 August: Helsinki + day trip to Porvoo or Nuuksio (4 nights total)

3 August: Tampere (Moomin Museum is an absolute must for me, 1 night)

4–7 August: Turku (3 nights)

7–11 August: Cottage near Korpo (renting a car, 4 nights)

11–14 August: Helsinki + day trip to Tallinn (3 nights)

14 August: Flight back to Paris

We have more nights in Helsinki because we're both architects and want to spend time exploring the city's architecture. Two of those days are also for day trips, so we won't actually have that many full days there.

We originally wanted to visit the Saimaa region but it was too expensive. We decided to swap it for the Turku Archipelago instead.

Does this itinerary look well balanced? Would you change anything, especially the time spent in each place?

Thank you :)

Saimaa without car

Hello,

We are planning to spend 5 days around the Lake Saimaa region in Finland this August. We are two people and we would like to avoid renting a car.

We initially had a nice Airbnb booked, but it is no longer available, so we are now looking for alternative places to stay. I tried to find information on Google, but it is quite vague. ChatGPT has not been very conclusive either.

We would be very grateful to have some advice on:

- Where to stay around Lake Saimaa without a car

- Whether we should focus on Savonlinna or if other towns are also practical

- If staying somewhere else will make us too limited with public transport

Our main goal is to be close to nature and enjoy (kayak/paddle rentals, swimming, sauna, cycling and nature walks).

We are wondering if Savonlinna is the best base for this kind of trip (expensive though) or if places like Mikkeli or other parts of the lake district are better without a car.

Any recommendations for specific areas or accommodations would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!
