My mess. It's a start!

I finally got my own property last year. I've been going through some s***, and gardening has been very therapeutic.

I'm especially fond of fuchsias (have 5 in my shaded area); also pictured is jasmine, bugonias, queen's tears,, dahlia, a couple avocado trees...

What a wholesome hobby. Hoping to do more from cuttings in the future to really test my skills.

Don't give up on 'em!

I'm getting the sense that these plants are more resilient than some people give them credit for.

Fingers crossed.

I have two (zone 9b)- one that was 3 feet tall when I bought it, one that was about 12 inches.

The bigger of the two (Mexicola) came in with droopy, burnt leaf tips from whoever propagated it. The smaller (Bacon) looked good and kept its foliage through winter and even a frost event.

The first warm spell hit in March and what I thought was the healthier of the two (small bacon) dropped all its leaves. Meanwhile, the Mexicola dropped all its old leaves and started replacing them with some nice, perky looking growth.

We're a month away from summer, and the twig that was a healthy looking Bacon has just started putting out new leaves.
