RLCS 2026 Contender title missing despite meeting every requirement (Substitute, multiple Opens)

**TL;DR:** I was a registered Substitute who placed within the Contender bracket (2-16) across multiple RLCS 2026 Opens. All three Starters on my team received their Contender titles automatically. Mine never came through, for any of the events. After weeks of tickets, it got escalated to a specialist who is still just repeating that titles "only go to cash prize recipients," which directly contradicts Epic's own published eligibility criteria for Substitutes.

**My registration and placement:**

I was the registered Substitute ("Alternate" on start.gg) for my team across RLCS 2026 Open 4, Open 5, and Open 6. My team placed 15th in the events I have full records for, within the 2-16 range required for the Contender title. All three Starters on the roster already received their Contender titles automatically. I have not, on any of these events.

**What the actual rules say:**

Epic's help article: https://www.epicgames.com/help/rocket-league-c-202300000001622/gameplay-c-202300000001682/when-will-i-get-my-competitive-esports-rocket-league-title-a202300000016462

It lists: "Contender: 3 registered starters, 1 substitute, 1 coach, and 1 manager who placed 2-16 in an Open."

The official RLCS 2026 rules: https://www.start.gg/league/rocket-league-championship-series-2026

They state: "These are Players that are registered to a Team and are able to play in tournament matches for that Team... prize money is not distributed directly to these players," and "Substitutes only earn RLCS 2026 In-Game Titles after their Team places Top 16 or higher in an Open."

So by Epic and RLCS's own rules, a Substitute does not need to personally receive prize money to earn the title, the team's placement is what matters.

Worth noting: that same Epic help article also opens with a summary line saying titles go to "eligible cash prize recipients only." I believe this is the actual source of the confusion, since it directly contradicts the specific Contender eligibility bullet listed further down in the same article, which names Substitutes as recipients despite Substitutes never receiving cash. Support keeps quoting the top line and ignoring the bullet underneath it.

**Timeline of what's happened so far:**

- Multiple live chat tickets, each ending in one of: "you're not eligible" (no reason given), "titles are only for cash prize recipients," "the event isn't found on your account" (despite public start.gg records showing otherwise), or "if you didn't get it, you're not eligible, since it's automatic" (circular reasoning)

- Several tickets closed with no resolution, sometimes for "inactivity" seconds after I replied

- Finally got escalated to a Specialists team member, who confirmed my placement ("congrats on 15th") but still fell back on the same cash-prize reasoning

- Emailed tournaments@epicgames.com directly with the full case, no response yet

- Checked the regional RLCS Discord, they confirmed title issues are explicitly outside their scope and redirect to Epic Support

- I also registered fairly late for one of these events, right before the deadline, which I suspect may have caused a syncing/registration issue specific to my account

**I'm not the only one this has happened to:**

**Why I'm posting this:**

If you're a Substitute, Coach, or Manager who placed 2-16 in an RLCS 2026 Open and never got your title, I'd really appreciate a comment below. A pattern of multiple cases seems to be the only thing that gets this treated as the technical issue it clearly is, instead of being closed out as a one-off eligibility question every time.

**Update:** I've now been banned from opening further live chat support tickets, after repeatedly asking about this same missing title. I can no longer use live chat support at all for this or anything else. Just adding this so people have the full picture of how this has gone.
