Easy Sim card Argentina 2026
Just bought a Sim card instead of Airalo eSim which didn't have a great plan for my 15 day visit.
Bought a Claro SIM card at a random kiosco for about $1 USD. Kioscos are everywhere in Buenos Aires and open late.
Insert card in phone so make sure you have the tool to open the SIM slot.
I found a location with wi-fi to do the following steps.
Dial the number on the card packaging and follow the prompts.
Your tel# will be below the bar code on the packaging. Mine started with "11-"
You might save some time by having a passport photo ready to select. Along with a photo of you and your passport together. If not take them and upload on the spot.
I went to the Claro website to buy a plan. It wouldn't let me buy a plan directly so I used the same site to load 15000 pesos into my account.
The hiccup for a US card holder was that I had no ID# to enter after my 3 digit code.
Instead I entered 00000000. Purchase went through smooth.
Used that credit to buy a great plan with voice data and all this bonus stuff .
