possible labrum injury

17M

I’ve been able to dislocate my shoulder(s) manually and by accident for years and have always been able to relocate them myself.

My right shoulder dislocates multiple times per day and I recently had a very bad posterior dislocation while playing the drums. I went to the ER and my x-ray came back perfectly fine but I got no MRI since they said they do not do MRI’s for non head injuries. During the evaluation, the doctor dislocated my shoulder posteriorly again and said that she suspects my Labrum is fully detached and sent an urgent referral to sports medicine.

Even with the urgent referral the soonest appointment is 4 weeks out, and then 2 weeks for an MRI appointment, and 2 weeks for MRI results. The ER did not give me a sling either since they said they don’t want my arm to get stiff, so i’ve been using KT tape to try and give extra support but it hasn’t been helping much. I’m wondering what I can / should do in the time period waiting for ortho evaluation to minimize further damage (if possible)? and to maybe even give my arm more support? It doesn’t hurt quite much, only about a 5-6 on most days. Any information / advice is greatly appreciated!

14 weeks post MPFL surgery, 3 subluxations in one day.

Over the winter I tore my MPFL and got reconstruction surgery in late february-

In the first stages of post surgery I had some issues, especially during the brace removal phase. I had a lot of pain and instability til about 10 weeks, but after that everything was going very smooth sailing. (PT and ortho said everything looked good and knee was healing wonderfully).

Today everything turned in the opposite direction since at the grocery store today my knee subluxed 3 times doing regular movements. I felt it slip out partially and when I looked down at it the kneecap was almost fully dislocated. Each time it did that it went back in on its own and did not cause any pain. So far there has been no bruising and minimal swelling.

I have very bad hypermobility issues and I am able to manually dislocate both my shoulders, my left knee, and my ankles- Before I got surgery my right knee could be manually dislocated and so when I got home I laid my leg straight and massaged my kneecap to see if it would remain in place (It had not been moving out at all until now) and with very minimal pressure it dislocated. There is and was no pain and it relocated with very minimal pressure as well.

I am wondering what I should do at this point- because of my general history of hypermobility and dislocations, along with the surgery, I am wondering if there is generally anything that can be done at this point to minimize these issue. Has anyone else had such extreme amounts of dislocations? Has anyone else had a situation similar to mine? How was or is it, being treated?
