2017 Bolt premier trim: worth installing Comma AI? which unit? A used 3x from eBay, or the newer Four?
Full disclosure, I bought this car used, and the blind spot warning sensor on the passenger side keeps lying and saying there's cars there when there's not. I think it's probably because somebody bumped into the corner at one point and never properly realigned the sensor, but maybe that doesn't have anything to do with this topic, since Comma is a camera-based system?
That said, it's a 2017; it's got LKA, but not true ACC IMO because it won't maintain a distance from the car ahead (something my 2014 BMW I3 did and I kind of miss). I think it's got the Driver Confidence II package because it's got the high beam assist and forward collision alert, and following distance indicator, but I haven't tested if it's got low speed auto braking (because who'd want to do that test?). From what I'm reading in various places, this car is probably a candidate for a Comma box with OpenPilot or StarPilot. My question for you is twofold:
If you've been using a Comma system for your early-gen Bolt, is it worth it to try to add it to my car? Does it work well? Should I have any concerns about the bad sensor?
What's a good resource to get started on deciding which hardware is best, and finding installation instructions? I'm reading (slowly) through what I'm finding on https://wiki.firestar.link/cars/bolt/, but I don't know if I should consider that authoritative, or if there's better documentation available.
