Walker Kessler led the NBA in Offensive Rebounds / game in 2024-2025
I'm not sure many people realize this because he has played on a lot of bad Jazz teams. I personally only knew that he was a decent shot blocker and made All Rookie. I think it somewhat explains the high price that the Lakers were willing to pay. Teams really value creating possessions.
He had 4.6 ORB / game in 2024-2025 and was averaging 4.6 again in 2025-2026 before his injury. This would have led the league again this year and is basically as good a per game rate as any Mitchell Robinson season, a guy who has the reputation of being the best offensive rebounder in the game. He has also ranked in the top 6 in total blocks 3 times.
Again, I'm not sure this can justify the high cost in draft picks but Kessler is probably a better player than people realize.
