Kyuushoku

A bit of a lighter topic, but I worked as an ALT in the countryside, and now still work as one in Tokyo. For all the gripes I have about schools in Tokyo, the kyushoku SLAPS here. Desserts are actually baked, and not packaged, the okazu feels more boujee, even the plates are ceramic and not plastic.

I know that a prerequisite to this is having a favorable palette for washoku and countryside could mean anywhere, but has anyone else worked in both countryside and urban and noticed a significant difference?

Public vs Private

I recently got an offer for a direct hire at a private elementary school. I've taught at public JHS and ES before, so I was wondering how different it would be in regard to how the school systems and curriculum are. I know each private school has their individual programs and such, but I was curious about any glaring differences or things I should be careful of if I do accept this offer. Annecdotal stories welcome!

I should also note that this is for a main subject teacher position as opposed to a traditional ALT role.
