Officially part of the gang! Meet Marty!

I posted last week that I was in the process of rescuing my very first greyhound, pending a meet & greet with my resident dog.

Happy to report the meet and greet went amazing, and Marty is home!! Both dogs are happily napping in their own corners of the living room.

Our family feels so complete!

Going from one dog household to two

Potentially going from one to two dogs, as the title says, pending a meet up this weekend!

Very excited, but also nervous for the new routine and integration. Our resident dog is pretty chill and low energy and enjoys the company of similar temperament dogs. The dog we’re adopting comes from a foster home and from what they’ve told us it sounds like it will be a good personality fit.

That being said, we are fully prepared to spend time training and working with both dogs and that it won’t necessarily be an easy peasy, no issues, integration.

I’d love to know any tips, good stories, or general advice any one has for making the new dog feel welcome, the resident dog not feel replaced, and general day to day logistics (walks, leaving one dog at home while the other goes to the vet, etc etc).

Thank you in advance!!

Adopting a greyhound this weekend!

*assuming meet and greet with our resident dog (not a greyhound) goes well!

Very excited but also nervous! The rescue has done a wonderful job working with us, making sure we and our current dog are a good fit, and giving us important info on him.

Even still, any pointers for integrating him or simply living with a greyhound is welcome! He’s seems to be a happy boy and we’re so anxious to welcome him into our home! I’ve done lots of reading on greyhounds/tips for first time owners, but any pointers people can share is always welcome, and will maybe put my nervous/excited jitters at ease.

Also would love any tips or stories about going from a one dog household to two!
