Safety begins with me, except for when it comes time to actually be safe

CCA.

We just had a series of tornado WARNINGS for my county, so I immediately packed up and went back to the station because the news is now telling me to immediately shelter in a secure location. And of course I get the “you can’t be here” and “we get these warnings all the time” Had to remind them that tornado warnings are the bad ones. Obviously I still ended up waiting out the storm at the station.

Can’t wait for tomorrow’s safety talk about making sure our shoelaces are tied tight and to make sure we look both ways before crossing the sidewalk. I literally have never received any info on what is accepted protocol for carriers in the field is during a severe weather event. I didn’t get a straight when I asked about what’s acceptable for when I see lightning overhead.

The $3.99 Oshie jersey arrived

Honestly the Fanatics Breakaway plays really well for the Capitals, given the lack of an interesting crest. Super comfortable, great fit. I’m really happy with it.

Didn’t come with tags, so was definitely a return. Another item I ordered (sweatshirt) had a stain on it, which must have been why it was on clearance.

Mom passed away - trying to figure out what I have now?

Mom passed away suddenly 2 years ago, and she was really getting into photography the last few years of her life there. All her camera equipment has just been sitting around at the house since no one else is into photography. Well very recently, I decided that I was going to start up the hobby. As in, I still know absolutely nothing about it but I’m trying to learn.

This is all her camera equipment (as well as a boatload of loose accessories) just trying to figure out what I have. Not interested in selling any of it, just want to know what I have now. Or maybe see if there any redundancies that I could sell/trade in so that I can buy a lens or two that will work for my Canon AE-1.

Astrophotography is an interest of mine. I’m really interested to see what I could do with the 600mm lens and taking some pictures of the night sky.

Management wants me to get done at 3:00 every day

CCA here past 90 absolutely going through it.

I have a hold down on a pretty mid route. Most days I am assigned 1.5 hr pivot and 1 hr OT (5:30 return time then) Well by my math that s them saying I’m to finish with my route at 3:00 and then IMMEDIATELY teleport with a loaded truck to where my pivot is.

Well on Saturday I didn’t clock out until 6:30 and management gave me a talking to today on why I went over and had unauthorized OT and why didn’t I call back, etc.

I’m nearly at my snapping point because I know that management can’t do shit if I start deciding to take my route all the way until 4:30 and THEN go hit my “pivot”

I filled out my 96 today for excessive DPS and I’ll start calling back every day no matter what, but any other tips or anything?

I estimate that I got about 6 more months left of this shit.

Unrelated: can I get a 8 hour restriction as a CCA? My mentals are…not all the way there right now.

Lafayette Towers is unliveable

SE facing unit near the top of the building is BRUTAL shit. Full sun from 8am to 4pm. Blinds don’t do shit. One of our living room AC units (where the thermometer is located) shit out and management has been slow as shit getting to it for the past few weeks.

Indoor temp (outside of the bedrooms) plateaus at around 78 and can’t get any lower. Regularly reaches 84° inside while we are at work. Air conditioners are non-programmable/smart either so we can’t have it come on at 3 every day or something. Don’t even want to know what the air conditioning bills are going to be this summer.

Avoid.

Older carrier said to me this morning that with my hold down, I’m not on the color code schedule. That’s news to me, there’s still a schedule for us CCA’s. Any thoughts?

Trying to remember Appalachian Trail landmark

Hiked in 2022, so the memories are fading a bit.

Somewhere in the Shenandoah to Pennsylvania range, there was a very sizeable covered picnic shelter (but no walls, just covered) on top of a mountain somewhere. The mountain or clearing felt like it was a bald or something. I remember it was a foggy day, so that’s why I’m probably having a hard time with the recall.

I remember it being a very pretty shelter or something.
