Sales Rep accompanying test drives

What’s everyone’s experience here? Is there a hard and fast policy across different dealerships?

My experience

BYD. Accompanied. Described as policy. Decent length test.

Tesla. Go yourself. Easy.

Geely. Go yourself.

Zeekr. 15 minutes on a couple of streets. Felt like my first learner drive. Half of that 15 was the salesperson driving.

Can you take a look at my small deck?

Deck maintenance advice - oil vs water-based coating / sanding?

I have a timber deck that was new about 4 years ago. It was oiled about 1 year ago, but I am not completely sure what was used originally. It may have been oil, or possibly some kind of water-based Intergrain-type finish.

It is now looking pretty grey/weathered in places, with some reddish areas still showing through. The timber seems structurally fine, just faded and worn.

Questions:

  1. Can I just clean it and oil it again, or do I need to use an Intergrain/water-based product if that was possibly used before?

I’d prefer to oil if I can.

  1. What prep is actually needed? Deck cleaner only, or does it need sanding back first?

Mainly trying to avoid making it patchy or creating a much bigger job than necessary.

Currently in a fixed-term corporate/professional role and curious how these usually play out in practice.

When do companies typically decide whether to:
renew, convert to perm or let the contract end?

In reality, when do you normally start getting signals either way? Months out or right near the end?
