No folder no about-me.md no global instructions

Every tutorials I read advise to have a folder structure with md files for context about you, your company, claude.md files or memory.md files that Claude should be reading before anything.

Today I read (Ruben Hassid) saying this is now wrong and to turn about-me into a skill and forget about global instructions and folder structure, that it limits Claude’s creativity.

Thoughts? Anyone else saying that? Anyone not using global context files already?

Resources for small businesses and creative operations?

Most of content I see out there about Claude Cowork is made by content creators for content creators i.e. not so complex workflows (a content creator sets their branding, writing rules and they can get going easily...). Can your recommend resources for non-tech people and small businesses, or work with more complexity (many stakeholders, scheduling, budgeting and finance, clients, vendors, production work, experimental work, creative workflows and operations etc)? Thanks!

Cowork project structure for a creative studio or agency

Curious how other creative studios do their "Cowork Project" structure.

E.g. Cowork projects: Finance, Marketing, Operations, Client A, Client B, Client C.

Or one Cowork project is Production for example and you mix all your clients/actual projects under that "cowork project"?

Or? What is your structure and why?

Also everyone talks about "workspace" where Claude talks about "projects" so wondering what's the best approach.

CLAUDE.md or not

I am starting to use Claude Cowork (I'm not a coder), watching 100 of videos and reading articles on how to set things up. I am getting confused by folder structure and what files I need and instructions.

I started with a Cowork HQ, with subfolders Context (with about-me.md, writing-style.md), Projects, Outputs, Templates. I put some instructions in Claude settings, some at the Cowork level settings and some within the project.

For example:

Account-level

  1. If something is unclear or requires a judgment call, ask before guessing.

Cowork level

  1. At the end of a task, give me a short summary of what changed and where you saved the result.

Project level

Before any and every single task, you must read every file in Context/:
- Context/about-me.md:

and i would mention any specific context md file for the project....

But then I read someone suggesting to have a CLAUDE.md and MEMORY.md at the HQ level AND at the project level. Do I really need those? And when you have those, do you still need global instructions?

Was my initial structure incorrect then? I am getting confused already. 😄
