advice needed- restoring a shaved double coat

this lovely lady is a border collie mix and before me her coat was i believe clipped with a guard comb many times. her coat now is this very fried looking hair, little difference in the texture between undercoat and her guard hairs.

any products or tips for restoring her hair a little bit? i am a huge fan of carding coats when it’s applicable, just unsure if anyone has experience with a coat that is damaged like this.

first pic is when i brush all her hair down, when she gets up and shakes her hair looks like she got electrocuted lol.

I am so tired of people getting animals they can’t/don’t want to spend money on.

it’s f**king exhausting. i didn’t make you buy a doodle. you went and bought it, and now it needs monthly grooming. or, you are welcome to learn to do it diy i’m just as happy that way, but arguing with me about price and complaining about having to pay every six weeks accomplishes nothing, i’m exhausted.

maybe this comes off as crabby or out of touch, it’s just draining tbh.

i work for myself, and prices are extremely affordable because i don’t have to pay employees, and i want people to be able to afford coming to me regularly whenever they need to or need help. but the amount of people with doodles that complain about having to get their dog groomed, i’m at my wits end.

and please, this is not directed at people who inherit animals that they aren’t financially ready for, or find animals, but i just cannot deal with people who buy dogs for thousands of dollars and then are arguing with the people trying to help them.

this was my first time grooming a carin terrier! owner specifically said no stripping so i hand scissored everything. its not perfect but pretty ok for my first time!

questions, whats the differences between a westie cut and a carin cut? i feel like it looks pretty similar?
