What's one soil fact that completely changed the way you look at the ground beneath your feet?

I used to think of soil as just dirt until I started reading more about how complex it actually is. The amount of life, chemistry, and structure packed into a small handful is honestly incredible.

It made me realize how much is happening below the surface that most of us never notice.
