What kind of frog is this? Found in Tobago - Trinidad & Tobago

I assumed it was a tree frog because it was so high up. We were on the third story balcony and he/she was right there with us.

What's a good area to stay for a layover in Panama City?

Hello,

I am travelling to Ecuador and I have an overnight layover in Panama City. Was just wondering if there was an area where I should book my hotel so that I can experience the nightlife or at least a couple bars. I thought I would ask here to get an expats perspective. Thank you in advance.

Is Trinidad a place where expats could live?

I am second generation Trini and raised in the US. My mom is retired and goes back and forth from Trinidad and the States depending on the weather. My sister was also born and raised there so I'm the Yankee of the family.

Currently, our family is discussing moving to Belize or another Caribbean country. We have ruled out Trinidad because of the crime. When I ask my mother why not Trinidad her response is "too much killing".

I also know that every time I am there they do not want me going any place by myself. They tell me it's because I have an American accent and may get kidnapped. They don't even want me to take a taxi by myself, and have sometimes told me not to speak when we get in one.

Majority of my family when I am there stress to me to be careful and that people get killed for nothing every day. Like my cousins friend got killed because he set his drink on someone's car to break up a fight between friends.

They also stress the police doesn't look into murders like the USA and there aren't big investigations unless the person was a public figure.

Now, even though I am not born there I love our culture and represent it any and everywhere. I would love for when I am in a position to help out the people of Trinidad and see if I can create jobs and income there. When I say this to some of my family, they shoot it down and say don't waste my time.

Now my question is, as of right now today, would it be a place an expat could live and be accepted?

Carib or Stag? Where do you show loyalty?

This video is from a bday party I attended when I was visiting. I get people on both sides when I ask my family so I wanted to ask you reddit.

For me, as a second generation Trini I have to say Stag.

Take me back to Nassau...

As a second generation Trini, I really enjoyed Nassau. The public beach being only a short walk from the port was absolutely gorgeous and honestly looked like something off a postcard. The water was crystal clear and the whole area had a really relaxing vibe.

I also felt pretty safe walking through town and exploring the area around the port. Most of the shops downtown felt pretty commercial and tourist focused, but once we got closer to the beach, the experience felt much more authentic.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was finding a fresh fruit stand where I grabbed coconut water and mangoes right off the beach. The mango was so sweet! I was hoping to find some soursop too, but no luck this trip.

The food at the beach restaurants was amazing and authentic Caribbean. Way better than anything I had on the ship. The customer service there was incredible too. It rained for a little while during the afternoon, and the restaurant staff let all 10 of us take shelter at their bar while serving us free drinks. That hospitality honestly stood out to me the most. I can't remember the name, but it's the spot where we were playing connect four.

Also, I was able to fly my drone while I was there and captured some really cool videos and photos. Definitely excited to edit everything together and share the footage on YouTube soon.

The reason for the trip is that I took Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras to celebrate my nephew getting married onboard. So congrats again nephew! With both families we were 50 deep on the ship, which made the whole trip even more memorable.

I didn’t make it to Atlantis this time, but that’s definitely on the list for my next visit.

For those who’ve been to Nassau before... did you visit Atlantis, and was it worth it? Also curious if there’s anything else I might’ve missed that you’d recommend checking out next time.

I’ll also be putting together a YouTube video about the trip and my experience in Nassau shortly.

Thank you for reading!
