4 friends who inspired me at Seven Lions @ Cosmic Meadow
This was my third EDC. '18, 24 and now 26. Since '18, I have been able to convince a number of friends from Aus (or former Aus) to give it a go. This year I had the biggest group with me.
Being a bit older (mid/late 30s) from down under and older, bass and dub isn't usually our thing. I'm a trance/hardstyle/prog/deep house person but some close friends had slowly influenced me over the last few years to give it a go. I told myself that I had to diversify my set attendance. Made sure to be there for Dabin. But the story here is that after I was done with Tinlicker's set then stayed at 9x9 for some hard dancing, I decided to stick to my plan and see Seven Lions. It was a really insane journey to move to Cosmic Meadow as my trip was at its peak and emotions were running wild with the current struggles with my personal relationship. Anyways, I got to Cosmic Meadow to locate my friends at the floor of gate 21 but realised that if I kept going, I won't be able to enjoy the last few songs by Seven Lions. So I stood at the top of the bleachers smack bang in the middle (gate 22?). Then this song came on (Seven Lions - Strangers live mix?) which had a really really nice melody and caught my attention. In front of me was 4 younger Asians (1 guy and 3 girls). I assume they are friends. They were very energetic, happy and when the dub drop came, they fully sent it. At that moment, they had induced something in this complete stranger (aka me), some form of inspiration and positivity to deal with my personal issues and also reminded of my usual mantra of 'always stay young at heart'.
What they might remember this as a random fun moment together as friends had completely change another random person's life.
I recorded the video of the song but didn't really film these people (thought it would be creepy) but there are glimpses of their head. If you one of the 4 ppl and happen to read this post, I just want to let you know this and to say thank you. I hope you had a mad time at EDCLV '26 and that your friendship will always remain strong. If you know who these people are, please pass on this message to them!
