EE vs Mechatronics

I’m a freshman at UVU trying to decide between Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering and wanted to hear from people actually in the programs (or who considered both). I can't find a lot of information online for UVU comparing the two.

If you’re in Mechatronics: What’s your experience been like so far? What kinds of jobs/internships seem realistic coming out of the program? Do you ever wish you had gone EE instead?

If you’re in EE: Why did you choose EE over Mechatronics? How theoretical vs hands-on is the program? What areas does UVU seem strongest in?

For anyone who compared the two: What ultimately made you choose one over the other? Which students tend to fit better in each program skill-wise?

I’m especially interested in robotics, embedded systems, semiconductors, automation, and building things physically, but I also don’t want to accidentally limit myself long term (seems like mechatronics is especially niche).

Would appreciate any honest opinions about the programs, professors, recruiting, workload, career flexibility, or anything else you think someone deciding between the two should know.
