First time reptile/snake owner!

First time reptile/snake owner!

I'm getting a (roughly) 9 month old female Mexican Black Kingsnake in two weeks and am just about finished with my set up! All I'm waiting on now is a humid hide, water bowl, and climbing enrichment/decor :)

I'm also more than likely getting a larger branch or something on the hot side as her basking spot. I'm new to reptiles in general so I've been messing around with the temperature in the tank and figuring out how to work the heating lamp I got before I actually get her. If anyone has any recommendations as to what to get for a basking surface I'd love to see/hear about it!

First time snake owner! Feeding questions...

Hello! I'm finally fulfilling a decade old dream of mine and getting a snake, specifically a Mexican Black Kingsnake! I have most of, but I obviously not everything I need, and I'm still doing a bit of research before I actually get one so I can be prepared to give her the best life possible.

Now, I've been doing some research on feeding juvenile MBK snakes, but I'd love to hear some tips on where to get feeding mice online (I live in a small town where the nearest possible place to buy any in person would be over an hour away) and what age/size she'll need starting out. I'm planning on getting one that's pretty young as well.

If there is a good place to get feeding mice online I'd love some recommendations! If not, I should be able to drive to the city every few weeks or so and buy in bulk, but I'd much prefer the alternative.

Anyway, thanks for any tips! This snake will be my baby and I will do anything to give her what she needs :)
