What the frack is going on with rock radio lately?
What the hell is going on with rock radio lately? KCAL-FM 96.7 just laid off its entire on-air staff and went DJ-less, while 107.7 The Bone (KSAN) just laid off longtime Bay Area host Lamont Hollywood after decades in radio. (latimes.com) Add in the other recent cuts and format changes, and it feels like rock radio is getting gutted. Is this just another round of corporate cost-cutting, or are we actually watching the end of local rock radio as we know it? What are people in the industry hearing?
