Favorite Quote?

“There are three things you can never get enough of: chocolate, friends, and the theater!”

That’s one of my favorite JB Fletcher quotes. What’s one (or more) of yours?

Would you do it?

Hello my cozy mystery friends! What if this cozy mystery scenario happened to you in real life? It turns out you had a great uncle you didn’t know existed. He has left you a charming cottage and a bookshop in Ireland (Scotland, Wales, you pick the country). We are assuming this all checks out and is legitimate. WOULD YOU DO IT? Move half way around the world and run a cozy bookshop?

Get Covers is having a sale

I have no professional affiliation with getcovers.com, other than being a satisfied user. Right now, through July 17, they have 20% off all orders.

Get covers is affiliated with Miblart, a good cover design company. They have an art student division called get covers that trains young art students in Ukraine. They create covers using image manipulation and NO AI.

They do unlimited free revisions and will format for any publisher like KDP, IngramSpark, BookVault, etc. If you hate your cover, like I did, they will completely do it over. I love my cover now!

You can get an ebook cover for as little as $20. I spent around $60 to also get a paperback cover, website banner, 3D mockups, and a few other promotional materials. What a deal! They are currently working on a logo for my LLC, and that was $40, but with the sale, I paid $32.

They are also very fast; their turnaround time is under a week.

Like I said, I have no dog in this fight. Just wanted to share a money saving opportunity with my fellow authors. Are these as good as a painted cover for $3,000? No. But they look professional and will sell books. You can go to their site and look at their gallery and see what you think.

I hope this helps.

Play Lists for Characters

Readers and Writers, lately I’ve been hearing about authors, especially in romance, providing “play lists” their characters would listen to as a suggestion for readers to listen to while reading the book or to listen to later for fun.

I wanted to know what you all think. The FMC in my WIP is a senior who loves classic rock. Her best friend, the secondary character, likes the softer rock of the 60s and 70s.

It wouldn’t be that hard to make playlists, but would anyone really care?

Authors and Readers, have you had any experience with this? What’s your opinion?
