Article about the GIS from 1999

Here is an article about the Ghost Investigators Society in the Lumberjack, from September 1, 1999 on the Northern Arizona University website.

Ghost Hunters tell their stories

I had to download it to read it, but it might work differently for you.

Brendan Cook was only 19 years old when this article was published. A glimpse into the group approx. one and a half years before their first appearance on Art's show.

Could someone help me identify this apparently out-of-place passenger jet?

I'm probably going to regret asking this, but I'm so puzzled and would really like input from someone who may understand what I saw.

I was driving home when I noticed a very low-flying passenger jet overhead. I got a good look at this jet as it flew all the way across my field of vision and passed into and out of three clouds (I could still slightly see it when it was within the clouds). I've seen plenty of planes take off and land, especially at DIA when I used to live out west, and this is the altitude I would expect to see very close to an airport. Problem with that is the nearest airport is far too small to accommodate large commercial passenger jets, but I just assumed the pilot had to reduce altitude for some logical reason. The entire jet was also a strikingly bright shade of blue with a small number of yellow markings.

I pulled into my driveway less than two minutes later and immediately looked up three things:

The cloud ceiling was 2,500 feet. and this jet was definitely flying through the lowest layer of clouds.

The only jet I could find that looked like this one is the JetBlue N779JB which was definitely nowhere near where I live.

I then looked at an online flight radar and found that a Delta Airlines B738 had just passed over my town a few minutes before at 36,000 ft.

So how could a Delta Airlines B738 at 36,000 ft. possibly look like a JetBlue N779JB flying at less than 3,000 ft? These are not minor differences, and the cloud cover would have blocked my ability to see any flights at 36,000 ft.

Other than my going crazy, what could explain this?

(And to the people trolling reddit in order to steal stories without asking permission: No, you may not use my story without permission. And that goes double for the journalist who stole one of my stories a few years ago.)
