▲ 5 r/CMI

So I'm doing a partial drop, giving the exam next Saturday, and I'm feeling a little underprepared for the test.

Here's what I've done over the past ~10 or so months:

  • Elementary Number Theory by David Burton
  • An Excursion in Mathematics
  • Some important topics from CTPCM
  • ISI previous year's papers (2015-2025)
  • CMI previous year's papers (2012-2025)

All of the important topics I've gone through I've kept notes in a small notebook of sorts, and to that i've added notes from questions and topics i found hard while attempting PYQs.

Next 5 days I plan to just brush up on my notes and maybe attempt some questions from areas I'm weak in from https://cmientranceexam.in/.

For all of the CMI papers that I could find the cutoffs for, I've usually scored above the cutoffs, with a buffer of around 6-8 marks. But also having attempted the papers the questions feel very diverse and varied across the years, so the unpredictability seems to be irking me a little.

I would really appreciate any advice, from people who've written the exam, or are writing the exam this year and have had more time to plan and prepare.
