Any advice for reading?

Bonjour :) I just started my graduate studies in the US to become a middle / high school French teacher. My program requires us to take a graduate level “content course” so in my case a course in French. My only option was a course on French tragic theatre (would not have been my first choice, not really my favorite topic) so that’s what I’m taking. I am really struggling to read our course material. In undergrad I took 36 credits of pretty extensive French grammar and conversation courses but I never really had to read like this, especially not anything written between the 16 and 18 hundreds. Does anyone have any practical tips to help with reading comprehension when I’m reading this type of content? I feel like I’ve read the same pages over and over again and I understand 80-90% of the vocabulary but I’m just not comprehending without translating it into English :/

what is normal pain and swelling?

hi all, i’m 21f and just got my bottom right wisdom tooth extracted. i had the left bottom one removed exactly a year ago today and that one when completely fine. both were under local anaesthetic and the first one was no problem. this time however during my procedure the numbing kept wearing off and i had to have them stop several times. he got it out and put three stitches in. my doctor mentioned an infection but never gave me an antibiotic or anything. told me to go home, alternate tylenol and ibuprofen and ice it. that was on monday morning and it is now friday and i am in so much pain i cant move my jaw and i am significantly more swollen than i was last time. my doctor (and the internet) said initially that 2-3 days post-op is the peak of swelling and pain and it should be improving after that, but i called this morning and they told me day 4 is apparently the worst. i know my pain and swelling were not like this last time. my mouth is throbbing so bad i can hear it in my ear. he says it’s not a dry socket because i had stitches but im just worried about infection. i’m still following his advice and everything im just wondering if any of you have had a similar experience.
